In fact, the Marriage Act 1961 defines marriage as the union of a man and a women to the exclusion of all others voluntarily entered in to for life. I know that line off the top of my head because I am legally required to say it at every single marriage ceremony I officiate.
Instead, I am going to proudly display this logo:
The logo, combines easily recognised symbols, wedding rings, rainbow colours, and the equal sign. It was initiated and designed specifically for celebrants, so that members of the LGBTI community, and also those who support marriage equality, can easily find celebrants who will welcome their business.
I would also like to advise that as of today, any same sex couples who book me for a commitment ceremony will have their marriage made legal completely free of charge once the law has come in to effect. This is my guarantee, regardless of whether it takes 12 months or 12 years.
